The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) provides dental coverage for eligible Canadian residents, primarily those without dental insurance and with an adjusted family net income below $90,000. Coverage can range from 40% to 100% of eligible costs, depending on income. The plan covers a wide range of dental services, including preventive, diagnostic, restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, periodontal, and oral surgery services.

Eligibility:
  • Income: Families with an adjusted family net income below $90,000 are eligible.
     
  • Tax Residency: Must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
     
  • No Existing Dental Coverage: Must not have coverage through employer, pension, or purchased dental plans.
     
  • Age: The CDCP includes all eligible Canadians aged 18 and up.
     
Coverage Levels:
  • Family Net Income Under $70,000: 100% of eligible service costs are covered at CDCP established fees.

  • Family Net Income Between $70,000 and $79,999: 60% of eligible service costs are covered, with the patient responsible for the remaining 40%.

  • Family Net Income Between $80,000 and $89,999: 40% of eligible service costs are covered, with the patient responsible for the remaining 60%.
     
Services Covered:
  • Preventive: Cleanings, check-ups, sealants, fluoride treatments.
  • Diagnostic: X-rays, examinations.
  • Restorative: Fillings, crowns, inlays, onlays.
  • Endodontic: Root canal treatments.
  • Prosthodontic: Dentures.
  • Periodontal: Deep scaling.
  • Oral Surgery: Extractions.
     
Note: The CDCP covers services at CDCP established fees. If the actual cost of a service is higher, the patient must pay the difference.  It’s important to check with your oral health provider about any additional costs before receiving treatment.
